The SOLD OUT 33rd annual St. Mary’s Masters Kicks Off the Next Century of Care by Raising $602,050 NET!

On Monday June 9, 2025, devoted St. Mary’s supporters gathered for a fabulous day of golf and philanthropy at the Royal Montréal Golf Club, a venue that hosted the world-famous Presidents Cup last September. In the first year of the second century of St. Mary’s Hospital, the 33rd annual St. Mary’s Masters, raised a record-breaking $602,050 NET!

Upon arrival, guests were warmly welcomed by St. Mary’s volunteers, who invited everyone to enjoy a “Royal” brunch that included eggs Benedict, smoked salmon, bacon, an array of fresh fruits, mimosas, and more.
Despite heavy wind and rain showers in the morning, golfers made their way to their carts for a 1pm shotgun start. The skirl of bagpipes played by Black Watch Senior Pipe Major Cameron W. Stevens officially launched the Tournament.
While enjoying their rounds on the Red and Blue courses, golfers had the opportunity to meet and play alongside Montréal Canadiens legends Vincent Damphousse and Rick Green, in addition to participating in contests for the straightest drive, closest to the pin, hole-in-one, and putting. Groupe Taddeo Auto was our hole-in-one sponsor and showcased two of their Volvo EX30 models on the course. Guests were served refreshments and snacks, which included Philly cheesesteak sandwiches by 40 Westt Steakhouse, the iconic Montréal smoked meat sandwiches courtesy of Schwartz’s Deli, and authentic Italian cuisine from Mundo Trattoria were provided throughout the afternoon.
The evening festivities proceeded with a Masters cocktail dînatoire in the Clubhouse’s beautiful dining area and balcony. Guests mingled and indulged in sumptuous food stations such as poke bowls, shrimp, oyster, lobster rolls, and filet mignon – all wonderfully catered by Royal Montréal. Volunteers strolled through the crowd selling raffle tickets while an exciting live auction hosted by Ron Rappel and online silent auction drew bids for highly coveted dining experiences, sports & travel packages, fine wines, concert & festival tickets, and more.
A number of moving speeches were delivered throughout the night. St. Mary’s Chief of Emergency Dr. Jason Freder gave a passionate plea in favour of St. Mary’s and highlighted the importance of enhancing its Emergency Department (ER) during the Next Century of Care. 2025 St. Mary’s Masters Chair George Alexopoulos shared a poignant account of his own experience in St. Mary’s ER and expressed his gratitude for our community’s incredible support.
The celebration came to a close as President and CEO of St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation Cynda Heward presented Jess Vivier with the honorary St. Mary’s Masters green jacket in recognition of his exemplary leadership as co-chair of last year’s tournament. In turn, Cynda, who recently announced her retirement, received an award from Foundation Board of Directors Chair Arthur Wechsler, who thanked her on behalf of past committees for her 25 years of extraordinary leadership and unwavering dedication.

At the dawn of St. Mary’s Next Century of Care, the Tournament’s proceeds will, among other priorities, play a critical role in enhancing our ER, which calls for the reconfiguration and expansion of our outpatient clinics, the addition of an ER-specific CT scan, and the creation of much needed isolation rooms.
We would like to sincerely thank our generous participants and all the people who helped make this event a resounding success. We look forward to seeing you again next year!
Come for the game. Play for the cause.
