This 34th annual tournament goes down as the most successful in the event’s history. On June 15, 2026, nearly 300 golfers, sponsors, medical leaders, and volunteers gathered under sunny skies and comfortably mild temperatures at the Royal Montreal Golf Club – all united by a single goal: supporting the Foundation’s historic Next Century of Care campaign.

A Milestone Day for St. Mary’s

The hard-working St. Mary’s Masters Committee, led by George Alexopoulos for the second year in a row, delivered a first-rate day that was enjoyed by all. Their dedication – and the generosity of all the people who took part – is what powered this year’s extraordinary result.

Advancing Emergency Care at St. Mary’s

Every dollar raised will fuel the modernization of St. Mary’s Emergency Department. This $16M+ priority will improve patient flow, strengthen infection control, and optimize outpatient clinic areas – reserving emergency resources for the most critical cases. This initiative is about more than infrastructure alone; it is about ensuring that exceptional, patient-centered care remains available to our community for generations to come.

On the Greens

Upon arrival, guests were welcomed by the familiar smiles of St. Mary’s devoted volunteers and treated to a “Royal” brunch that included eggs Benedict, smoked salmon, bacon, an array of fresh fruits, mimosas, and more. For the 1pm shotgun start, the skirl of bagpipes – played by Black Watch Senior Pipe Major Cameron W. Stevens – officially launched the tournament.

The 18-hole, 2 best ball format unfolded across the Royal Montréal Golf Club’s renowned Red and Blue courses, keeping everyone engaged with contests for the straightest drive and closest to the pin, plus hole-in-one challenges sponsored by Groupe Taddeo Auto and Hemsley’s Jewellers.

Between shots, players refueled at a lineup of on-course food stations: pizza from Pasta Romana, pasta from Mundo Trattoria and Ristorante Beatrice, Philly cheesesteaks from 40 Westt Steakhouse, and smoked-meat sandwiches from Schwartz’s Deli, with additional stands serving snacks, hamburgers and hot dogs, and ice cream.

An Evening of Celebration and Philanthropy

The evening festivities continued with a Masters cocktail dînatoire in the Clubhouse’s beautiful dining area and balcony, where guests mingled and indulged in food stations such as Asian and slider stations, oysters, lobster rolls, salad, cheese and fresh fruit – all beautifully catered by Royal Montréal. Volunteers strolled through the crowd selling raffle tickets while an exciting live auction hosted by Ron Rappel and online silent auction drew bids for highly coveted dining experiences, sports and travel packages, fine wines, concert and festival tickets, and more.

Several moving speeches were shared throughout the night. St. Mary’s Chief of Emergency Dr. Jason Freder made a passionate plea on behalf of the Hospital, underscoring the importance of enhancing the ER to adequately meet current and future needs.

Foundation President & CEO Nadia Wendowsky, attending her first St. Mary’s Masters, thanked the nine foursomes who each pledged $100,000 toward the modernization of the ER: Belden (George Alexopoulos), Nova Steel (Lawrence Cannon), Stanark Investments (Donald Clarke), Assistenza (Paul Scardera), Fondation Famille Bertrand, Kocisko Family, Groupe Taddeo Auto, (Anthony Taddeo), Norman & Lorena Cook / Stephen & Dodie Cook, as well as an anonymous donor.

As the celebration drew to a close, Chair George Alexopoulos expressed his heartfelt gratitude for our community’s incredible, record-breaking support.
