The 32nd annual St. Mary’s Masters rings in our Hospital’s Centennial by raising $442,520 NET!
Monday, June 10, 2024 at The Royal Montréal Golf Club
On Monday June 10, 2024, loyal St. Mary’s supporters gathered for a fabulous day of golf at the Royal Montréal Golf Club, a venue that will host the world-famous Presidents Cup this September. In St. Mary’s Hospital’s 100th anniversary year, the 32nd annual St. Mary’s Masters, sponsored by Tournament Master Nova Steel, raised an outstanding $442,520 NET!
Upon arrival, guests were warmly welcomed by St. Mary’s volunteers, who invited everyone to enjoy a “Royal” brunch that included mimosas, eggs Benedict, smoked salmon, an array of fresh fruits, and more.
Before a 1pm shotgun, golfers were ceremoniously led to their carts by the skirl of bagpipes played by Black Watch Senior Pipe Major, Cameron W. Stevens.
While enjoying their rounds on the Red and Blue courses, golfers savoured an abundance of refreshments and snacks, which included Philly cheesesteak sandwiches by 40 Westt Steakhouse, the iconic Montréal smoked meat sandwiches courtesy of Schwartz’s Deli, as well as wraps and salads by 3 Sœurs. Additional excitement on the course was generated by competitions for the straightest drive, closest to the pin, a putting contest, and a hole-in-one opportunity to win a Land Rover from Groupe Park Avenue!
The evening festivities unfolded with a Masters cocktail dînatoire throughout the beautiful dining area and balcony with sprawling views. Guests mingled to the sound of singer VËR’s smooth vocals and indulged in sumptuous food stations such as Poke Bowl, Shrimp, Oyster, Satay, and Lamb Chop, and a chocolate and buttercream-flavoured Centennial cake – all wonderfully catered by Royal Montréal. Volunteers strolled through the crowd selling raffle tickets while an online silent auction drew bids for highly coveted dining experiences, sports & travel packages, fine wines, concert & festival tickets, and more.
The celebration came to a close as St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation President and CEO Cynda Heward presented Lawrence Cannon with the honorary St. Mary’s Masters green jacket, in recognition of his exemplary leadership as co-chair of last year’s tournament. Finally, 2024 St. Mary’s Masters co-chairs George Alexopoulos and Jess Vivier expressed their gratitude for our community’s incredible support.
As St. Mary’s embarks on the Next Century of Care, this year’s event was the perfect opportunity to highlight our Hospital’s brand-new Command Centre. This cutting-edge project will play a pivotal role in advancing healthcare through daily, real-time tracking of patient flow and hospital operations. Leveraging the power of data and AI (Artificial Intelligence), the Command Centre will enable Hospital teams to identify and collectively resolve recurring issues, streamline the admission of patients and optimize the use of hospital resources – thereby guaranteeing an even greater quality of care for our patients in the decades to come.
We would like to sincerely thank our generous participants and all the people who helped make this festive event a triumph. We look forward to seeing you again next year!
Come for the game. Play for the cause.
