A Century of Births at St. Mary’s

St. Mary’s Centennial Baby Beanies honour a century of excellence in mother-child care.

This year, as part of St. Mary’s 100th Anniversary celebrations, every child born in our Hospital will be gifted a specially designed Centennial Baby Beanie. We were delighted to receive this adorable picture of Sasha Arthur Moscovitch Sonin wearing his.

Sasha Arthur was born on February 21, 2024 to parents Gillian Sonin and Daniel Moscovitch. He is the third member of his family to have been brought into the world at St. Mary’s: his big sister Birdie was born here (in January 2022), as was his mother Gillian (on October 4, 1984)! St. Mary’s was an obvious choice for Gillian:

Renowned for our mother-child care program, our highly qualified and compassionate staff, as well as our welcoming and culturally diverse environment, we were the first Montreal hospital to be awarded the “Baby-Friendly Hospital” designation by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF. This distinction recognizes the provision of optimal clinical care to new mothers and their infants.

As St. Mary’s embarks on the Next Century of Care, may we honour and celebrate this tremendous legacy. We encourage new parents to take pictures of their newborns wearing the Centennial beanies and share them on social media.

At the end of 2024, we will create a large collage of Centennial baby photos to be admired and cherished for the next 100 years!
