Join us for the 25th edition of Girls for the Cure
Thursday, September 26th, 2019
The milestone 25th edition of St. Mary’s Girls for the Cure will be taking place Thursday, September 26th, 2019 at the Molson Percival Stadium. Over 1,500 students from five Montreal-area independent schools will walk together in a gesture of solidarity and support in the fight against women-related cancers. Girls for the Cure raises money for cancer treatments and services at St. Mary’s Hospital Center, as well as heightens the awareness of the toll this disease takes on the health and wellness of women in our community.
What began as a “walk” to raise funds in 1993 today has exploded into an empowering “movement” for thousands of high school girls in Montreal. The students work diligently to gather pledges from friends, family and neighbours. On the morning of September 27 the girls from Lower Canada College, Miss Edgar’s and Miss Cramp’s School, Sacred Heart School of Montreal, The Study and Trafalgar School for Girls embark on a harmonious 5 km trek where they will then unite at Molson Stadium in a resonating show of support and commitment. A minute of silence is observed in honour of the women who have fought and won and to remember those who have left us, never to be forgotten.
St. Mary’s Hospital Center’s Community Cancer Care Centre, treats one of the largest cancer patient populations on the island. To date, Girls for the Cure has raised over $3,000,000 for patient care and services.
