2019 St. Mary’s Masters Update

The 2019 St. Mary’s Masters raises an extraordinary $459,112 for Cancer Care!

Warm sunlight and a welcome breeze embraced the more than 200 golfers who participated in the 27th edition of the prestigious St. Mary’s Masters, which took place June 10th at The Royal Montréal Golf Club. Under the expert leadership of Chair Stacey Hoirch and Honorary Chairman Murray Steinberg, our dedicated committee worked unfalteringly to ensure an outstanding day for all participants and raised a record $459,112 NET!

Upon arrival, guests were greeted by a host of steadfast volunteers who invited them to enjoy a lavish brunch in the clubhouse dinning room. There was an abundant selection of fresh fruits and cheeses, pastries and breads, salads, breakfast meats and eggs of every variety imaginable.

Before the shotgun start, golfers were lured to their carts by the drone of bagpipes, gallantly performed by Cameron Stevens who was fully clad in the tartan of the Canadian Royal Highland Black Watch Regiment. Activities on the course included a straightest drive competition, closest to the pin and a putting contest crafted by the Club’s head pro, along with TWO hole-in-one opportunities to win a new Mini Cooper from Groupe Park Avenue.

While enjoying their rounds, golfers took full advantage of various snack stations strategically situated throughout the Red and Blue courses – zesty tomato pizza and meatball sandwiches from Del Monaco, vegetarian offerings from Copper Branch, salads by Les Trois Soeurs and a meat lovers grill station courtesy of McKibbin’s Irish Pub.

The evening festivities kicked off with a cocktail while guests perused the impressive Silent Auction display. Bidding heated up over sports memorabilia, coveted hockey tickets, dining experiences, trips and fine wines. As guests enjoyed a dinner of either succulent salmon or delicious filet mignon expertly catered by Royal Montréal, volunteers circulated the dining room distributing raffle tickets and collecting donations. St. Mary’s Masters Chair Stacey Hoirch expressed her sincere gratitude for the enormous support from the community and the countless patients and families who will benefit from their support.

The proceeds from the Masters tournaments have been earmarked towards the complete renovation and expansion of our 5th floor in-patient and palliative care facilities. It will allow us to provide a more supportive, comforting atmosphere for our patients and their families.

Congratulations to all and we look forward to welcoming you again next year!
