2023 St. Mary's Masters Update - St. Mary's Hospital Foundation

The 2023 St. Mary’s Masters celebrates its 31^st edition by raising a record-breaking $515,725 NET for Breast Cancer Care!

Under a fair weather sky, 220 golfers turned up on June 5^th to enjoy a spectacular day on the world-renowned fairways of the Royal Montreal Golf Club, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year and welcoming the President’s Cup in 2024. The dedicated St. Mary’s Masters Committee, led by co-chairs Lawrence Cannon and Jess Vivier, along with Honorary Chairman Murray Steinberg, delivered on a first-rate tournament that was enjoyed by all. We are extremely happy to have raised an incredible $515,725 NET in support of breast cancer care at St. Mary’s Hospital!

Upon arrival, guests were greeted by the familiar smiles of St. Mary’s devoted volunteers who welcomed and invited everyone to enjoy a royal brunch including mimosas, eggs benedict, an array of beautiful fruits and more.

Before the 1pm shotgun, golfers were ceremoniously led to their carts by the skirl of bagpipes played by Black Watch Senior Pipe Major, Cameron W. Stevens.

While enjoying their rounds on the Red and Blue courses, golfers took advantage of an abundance of refreshments and snacks, which included sausage & sliders courtesy of 40 Westt Steakhouse, smoked meat courtesy of Mello Foods, delicious pizza courtesy of Taste Italy, and snack bars courtesy of Buddha Brands. Additional excitement on the course was generated by the straightest drive, closest to the pin, and putting competitions along with a hole-in-one opportunity to win a Mercedes-Benz courtesy of Groupe Park Avenue!

The evening festivities unfolded with a Masters cocktail dînatoire throughout the beautiful dining area and balcony with sprawling views. Guests mingled to the smooth tunes of the all-female Lady Rouge Jazz trio and indulged in decadent Stations including Pasta, Shrimp, Oyster, Asian, Lamb Chop, as well as mouthwatering desserts, all wonderfully catered by Royal Montreal. Volunteers strolled the crowd selling raffle tickets while an online silent auction was enthused with bids for highly coveted dining experiences, sports and travel packages, fine wines, concerts, festivals and more.

The celebration came to a close as St. Mary’s Masters co-chairs, Lawrence Cannon and Jess Vivier shared their heartfelt gratitude for the support from our incredible community. St. Mary’s Breast Cancer Surgeon, Dr. Gordon Brabant, also thanked everyone and explained how St. Mary’s is breaking new ground for treatments and providing effective advantages in breast cancer survivorship. Congratulations to all who participated. We extend our sincerest appreciation for your steadfast support and dedication and look forward to seeing you again next year!
