This winter, we turn our spotlight on St. Mary’s Infection Prevention and Control Service.
Meet nurse clinicians Lucia Di Cesare, Freed-Lynn Noël, Rosalba Guarnieri and Dr. Trong Tien Nguyen whose work everyday keeps us healthy and safe.
St. Mary’s Infection Prevention and Control Service covers all areas of the Hospital: surveillance, assisting the units and educating staff on how to prevent the transmission of infections.
While adopting hard rules for wearing masks and washing hands may not be fun, we have this team to thank for keeping us safe, especially over the last three years during COVID-19. Because of them, the Foundation was able to carry on renovations of staff lounges to make a better workspace during the pandemic.
Changing people’s behaviour is sometimes challenging but necessary for the safety of our staff just as much as our patients. We are not telling people to adopt measures to make their jobs more difficult but to understand that whatever they pick up here they take home to their loved ones.

Things can seem like a hassle in the moment but it makes sense when you look at the big picture. The bottom line is that we are all doing this TOGETHER for our patients and our staff.
