Step Up for Women’s Cancers: Join the 31st Annual Girls for the Cure Walk
This year marks two incredible milestones: the beginning of St. Mary’s Hospital’s second century and the 31st edition of Girls for the Cure, a beloved and powerful tradition of hope, compassion, and community action. On September 25, 2025, over 1,000 students will gather at Murray Hill Park, united in one mission – to support women affected by cancer.
Since its inception in 1994, Girls for the Cure has mobilized tens of thousands of Montréal secondary school students, raising over $4.1 million for research, treatment, and patient care. Together, they’ve helped drive awareness, improve health outcomes, and fund vital innovations in women’s cancer care.
At St. Mary’s, we’re proud to be home to the McGill University Chair in Community Cancer Care, and we remain deeply committed to advancing cancer healing and recovery.
This year, six Montréal high schools are proudly participating in this life-changing initiative:
- Miss Edgar’s and Miss Cramp’s School (ECS)
- Lower Canada College (LCC)
- Sacred Heart School of Montréal
- The Study
- Trafalgar School for Girls
- Loyola High School
In the lead-up to the walk, students are hard at work raising pledges from family, friends, and community supporters. On event day, each participant will complete a walk of approximately 5 km, starting from their respective schools and making their way through the city streets to arrive at Murray Hill Park in Westmount. There, they’ll come together in a joyful and emotional celebration – knowing every dollar they raised supports essential cancer treatments and services at St. Mary’s Hospital Centre.
The afternoon will be filled with energy and inspiration, including:
- A live DJ set
- Appearances by Foundation and school mascots
- A guest speaker testimonial
- …and so much more!
You can make a difference. Support the students in their mission and be part of a movement that brings real change – and real hope – to women living with cancer.
