Girls for the Cure 2017
2017 GIRLS FOR THE CURE
23rd Annual Event
Walk to Raise Awareness & Funds for Women-Related Cancers
Thursday, September 28, 2017
Launched in 1995, Girls for the Cure brings together over 1,500 students from Miss Edgar's and Miss Cramp's School (ECS), Lower Canada College (LCC), Sacred Heart School of Montreal, The Study and Trafalgar School for Girls who walk five kilometres from their participating school campuses to Molson-Percival Stadium. The students work tirelessly to gather pledges from family, friends and neighbours in the hopes of finding a cure for women-related cancers.
This event raises money for cancer treatments and services, as well as heightens the awareness of the toll this disease takes on the health and wellness of women in our community, as is directed to the Community Cancer Care Centre at St. Mary’s Hospital Center.
To date, this event has raised over $2 million.
In the past 23 years, the Girls for the Cure have walked over a quarter of a million kilometres.
• from Montreal to Toronto – 523 times
• from Montreal to Sydney, Australia - 16 times
• from Montreal to Tanzania, Africa – 22 times
• the circumference of the earth - 6.5 times
And they will keep walking until they find a CURE. They are Girls for the CURE.
