Anthony Pacella was only 15 years old when he lost his mother to lung cancer, a tragic event that changed his life and gave him a new calling.

While Anthony’s mother, Mary Melillo Pacella, was undergoing treatment at St. Mary’s, young Anthony decided to take action and launched a “StrikeOut Cancer” Bowl-O-Thon.  What began as a fun-filled family day has now turned into a  vocation. Over the past five years, Anthony’s fundraising efforts have raised almost $75,000 for St. Mary’s Community Cancer Care program. His enthusiasm and determination have championed Anthony into a highly regarded role model for the community, and especially to other children who have lost a parent to this terrible disease.

Today Anthony has a new goal….and you can help him.

“I want to fund the construction of a brand new, state-of-the art, palliative care room on the 5th floor that houses the in-patient cancer care facilities. And I want to name it after my mother, Mary Melillo Pacella. In order for my vision to come to fruition, we need to grow the fund to $100,000.

While I am so thankful to the many supporters who have helped get us this far, today I ask for your help to go the distance in recognizing and honouring my mother’s memory and pay tribute to her through this legacy”.
